Our Services

Therapy Services

I currently provide sessions online to people UK wide. I can also meet face to face as part of “Walk and Talk” nature based therapy in the Glasgow area.

If you are interested in therapy and want to discuss this further, I can provide a free 20 minute phone or online initial consultation to explore this further. Please contact me and we can arrange a
time to do this. You may be looking for a specific therapy, such as trauma therapy or relationship counselling, or you may not know what you're looking for. Either way, I will talk you through your options in a judgement-free space.

I use an integrative approach to therapy, drawing from a range of techniques and modalities to provide a therapy that's right for the individual. I am also able to provide specific types of therapy, as listed below.

Trauma Therapy

Trauma is a complex and multifaceted issue. As an integrative clinical psychologist, I employ a variety of evidence-based techniques and therapeutic modalities during trauma therapy, including:

Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT)

TF-CBT is a form of trauma therapy that uses cognitive-behavioural techniques that have been shown to help individuals overcome trauma-related difficulties. It is designed to reduce negative emotional and behavioural responses following trauma. The therapy addresses upsetting beliefs and attributions related to traumas people have experienced and provides a safe environment in which people can talk about their traumatic experiences and learn skills to cope with life stressors.

Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET)

In NET, with guiding and directive help of the therapist, the person will be asked to talk about the trauma in the context of their whole life story in detail while re-experiencing the emotions, cognitions, bodily, behavioural, and sensory elements associated with traumatic events. As well, the person will talk about positive life experiences. This method of trauma therapy allows people to ease the difficult emotional response they experience when remembering the traumatic events and to change the meaning traumatic events have, which in turn leads a reduction in PTSD symptoms.

Schema Therapy

Schema Therapy targets schemas; a term used clinically to describe unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour that interfere with an individual’s emotional needs and impact on their ability to maintain relationships. It aims to help people recognise behaviour patterns they would like to change, understand the underlying cause of this behaviour, and change their thoughts and behaviours so they are better able to cope with relationship challenges or emotions in healthy, productive ways. In trauma therapy, it can also help people to process traumatic events, and heal the impact of needs that were unmet in their childhood.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is designed to reduce unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours that contribute to distress. The therapy focuses on identifying and challenging negative beliefs, helping individuals develop healthier thinking habits and coping strategies. CBT provides a structured, supportive environment where people can work through their challenges and learn skills to manage stress and improve overall well-being.

Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)

CFT aims to help promote mental and emotional healing by encouraging the person to be compassionate towards themselves and other people. CFT was developed to combat high levels of shame and self-criticism that often comes hand-in-hand with mental health difficulties. Compassion, both toward the self and toward others, is an emotional response believed to be an essential aspect of wellbeing.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT is a type of cognitive behavioural therapy that creatively uses values and mindfulness skills to help reduce psychological suffering and to build a meaningful life. This happens through learning new psychological skills to reduce the impact of difficult emotions and cognitions; clarifying the person’s values and using these to guide their actions and enhance their life; and focus attention on what is important to be able to fully engage in whatever activity they chose to do.

Nature Therapy

Many people find sitting in a room with a therapist intense and uncomfortable. Walk-and-talk therapy offers an alternative by allowing you to discuss your difficulties while walking and spending time in nature. For many, connecting with nature can help slow down and gain perspective.
If you’re interested in walk-and-talk therapy, we’ll start with an online session to assess suitability and discuss practical details before scheduling an outdoor session. I offer walk-and-talk therapy at various green spaces in and around Glasgow. All locations have been checked and risk-assessed by me beforehand.
Anyone can benefit from walk and talk therapy, but in my experience it can be particularly beneficial for young people and neurodiverse people who might find the setting of face to face or online difficult and find it easier being side by side and not having to make eye contact.
Please note, certain parts of therapy may not be suitable for walk and talk – for example trauma processing. We can discuss during an initial session if walk and talk therapy is suitable for your needs.

Who I Provide Therapy For

I provide therapy for adults (over the age of 16), and young people (between 12 and 16, with parental consent). I have experience working with people who have a range of difficulties they would like to bring to therapy. You might already have a good idea of what you want to bring to therapy, but you might also not know how to put it into words or define it.

Below are some of the common problems I have worked with:

  • Anxiety and depression
  • Fears, worries and phobias
  • Relationship counselling
  • Neurodiversity – getting a diagnosis, struggling with a new diagnosis, difficulties navigating the neurotypical world
  • Childhood trauma and abuse – often described as PTSD or CPTSD
  • Difficulties relating to sexuality and gender, including supporting people through transitioning
  • Self-esteem and self-worth
  • Life transitions – e.g. becoming a parent, retiring, moving, new job, loss of job, adjusting to illness or disability, college/university, new family/relationship configuration.
  • Grief and loss – bereavement counselling.
  • Difficulties with eating and body image
  • Understanding how the past is impacting you now
